Vimy Foundation hosts the Vimy Reception at the French Embassy
Nearly 200 people gathered on Wednesday April 4 to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge at the French Embassy for the Second Annual Vimy Reception hosted by the Vimy Foundation.
Attendees were welcomed into the Art Deco-era embassy by French Ambassador Philippe Zeller and his wife, Odile.
Once inside, the air was filled with French accordion music played by a Parisian-garbed musician. There were historical Vimy Ridge photos projected onto the walls, students dressed in First World War uniforms and vintage dresses, young folks with the Royal Canadian Army Cadets and a display of the Canadian War Museum’s King Edward VIII Vimy Pilgrimage Medal.
The Vimy Foundation looks forward to hosting the third edition during Vimy Week next year.
