Richard Williams is a former Commanding Officer of 22 Special Air Service Regiment – Britain’s premier Special Forces unit, who served for 20 years in the British Military. This involved service as a Special Forces Officer on operations in Northern Ireland, the Balkans, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, the wider Middle East, South America and Africa.
Awarded the Military Cross (MC) in Afghanistan, a Queens Commendation for Valuable Service (QCVS) in South America, and a Joint Commander’s Commendation in Bosnia – all for exemplary leadership of Special Forces teams on operations; he was also appointed to Membership of the British Empire (MBE) for his role as Chief of Staff to a Multi-National Brigade in Kosovo.
A resident of Toronto, and until recently the Chief Operating Officer of Barrick Gold Corporation, he is an experienced mining industry executive, a leadership coach, and an innovation champion.
He has an Economics Degree from University College London, a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Cranfield University and a Masters Degree in Security Studies from Kings College London.
