How do I apply?

All students between 15 and 17 years of age and who meet the following criteria are eligible for the 2012 Beaverbrook Vimy Prize :
  • Canadian, British or French citizen
  • Born in 1995, 1996 or 1997
  • Working knowledge of English and French is encouraged
  • Future leader
  • Proven team player
  • Sincere interest in history
  • Willing to present knowledge gained to classmates during Remembrance Week
  • Must be below the age of 18 by August 31st 2012.

While applications are accepted via email or postal service, applicants are strongly encouraged to apply online through the website.

EXTENDED DEADLINE: Application forms must be received no later than Ferbuary 15, 2012 at midnight (local time).

The application includes two questions. You may answer the first question in any form of expression you wish (essay, story, song, poetry, letters, film, multi-media, etc.). The second question is a short commentary on a work of art from the Beaverbrook Art collection in the online Canadian War Museum. All finalists must pass an interview with the Foundation’s selection committee.

Note: Vimy Prize winners will be asked to organize a Vimy Pin drive in their schools and communities to fundraise towards costs related to the scholarship in Europe. The Vimy Foundation will direct prize winners in this initiative.
